Forbidden subgraphs generating a finite set
For a set F of connected graphs, a graph G is said to be F-free if G does not contain any member of F as an induced subgraph. The members of F are referred to as forbidden subgraphs. When we study the relationship between forbidden subgraphs and a certain graph property, we often allow the existence of exceptional graphs as long as their number is finite. However, in this type of research, if t...
متن کاملGenerating Propagators for Finite Set Constraints
Ideally, programming propagators as implementations of constraints should be an entirely declarative specification process for a large class of constraints: a high-level declarative specification is automatically translated into an efficient propagator. This paper introduces the use of existential monadic secondorder logic as declarative specification language for finite set propagators. The ap...
متن کاملForbidden Triples Generating a Finite set of 3-Connected Graphs
For a graph G and a set F of connected graphs, G is said be F-free if G does not contain any member of F as an induced subgraph. We let G3(F) denote the set of all 3-connected F-free graphs. This paper is concerned with sets F of connected graphs such that |F| = 3 and G3(F) is finite. Among other results, we show that for an integer m > 3 and a connected graph T of order greater than or equal t...
متن کاملGenerating all subsets of a finite set with disjoint unions
If X is an n-element set, we call a family G ⊂ PX a k-generator for X if every x ⊂ X can be expressed as a union of at most k disjoint sets in G. Frein, Lévêque and Sebő [10] conjectured that for n > 2k, the smallest k-generators for X are obtained by taking a partition of X into classes of sizes as equal as possible, and taking the union of the power-sets of the classes. We prove this conjectu...
متن کاملA Mthod for Generating the Turbulent Intermittency Function
A detection method based on sensitization of a squared double differentiated signal is developed which discriminates the turbulent zones from laminar zones quite accurately. The procedure adopts a variable threshold and a variable hold time of the order of the Kolmogorov time scale. The output file so generated, includes all the information for further analysis of the turbulent signal.
